albums i love a LOT

will occasionally update this. here's the usually more up-to-date rym list

The Brave Little Abacus - Masked Dancers: Concern in So Many Things You Forget Where You Are

possible the only album i consider perfect in all aspects. probably due to the emotional impact i associate with it. i dont feel super comfortable relaying to strangers on the internet most of the reasons i love this album so much because its highly personal, but nonetheless, this album helped me a lot through some really shitty times. thank you adam demirjian, zach onett and andrew ryan.

E+E (Elysia Crampton) - The Light That You Gave Me to See You

if masked dancers was what helped me through the emotional rollercoaster that was 2018-2020, this albums drastic shifts represent the individual time intervals of basically polar opposite moods that i would go through--the 2d graph of the rollercoaster itself. this album also taught me a lot about music itself, so much context leading up to this album, going onto other people and creating even more context for those people to make albums based off... also the whole idea of mashups as a genuine art form and a way to create extremely emotionally moving vignettes. love elysia crampton forever

SOPHIE - Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides

hard to speak about this one. i first heard it when i was questioning my gender identity, around the same time i first heard masked dancers. deeply personal experience. rest in peace

E+E (Elysia Crampton) - Edited / Remixed (2008-2012)

same deal as the light that you gave me to see you. hearing this album was genuinely revolutionary to me, i had never heard many mashups beyond meme stuff. this album really flipped my whole conception of a mashup on its head for me, while simultaneously being so emotionally packed.

Actress - Ghettoville

edm as processed through the mind of a half life 2 stalker. derelict, and creepy as hell. really just an incredible atmosphere
